The association
Research, public engagement and knowledge transfer
IndexCom is a non-profit scientific association dedicated to research, public engagement and knowledge transfer in social communication. It was founded to create an independent, open and lasting space connecting the academic community, institutions, professionals and the public.
The association promotes a broad and inclusive understanding of communication. Its activities encompass the study of how information is produced, circulated and received; media narratives and digital environments; media, information and algorithmic literacy; and graphic, editorial, digital, visual and interaction design as mediators in the construction of meaning.
A SPACE CONNECTING KNOWLEDGE AND SOCIETY
IndexCom was established to provide continuity and independence for scientific and editorial initiatives in communication. The association helps ensure that rigorous knowledge reaches beyond academia, circulates, sparks debate and has a social impact.
Our work takes an interdisciplinary, evidence-based approach, with particular attention to scientific quality, editorial ethics, open access and collaboration between universities, research centres, associations and industry stakeholders.
OUR MISSION
- Advance scientific research in communication through critical, interdisciplinary and collaborative approaches.
- Bring knowledge to diverse audiences through public engagement and knowledge transfer.
- Promote high-quality, ethical scholarly publications, preferably with open access.
- Foster media and information literacy and critical thinking.
- Build lasting national and international cooperation networks.
A GROWING ECOSYSTEM
IndexCom provides a shared framework connecting different projects. The journal index.comunicación, Indexfera, Index Pódcast, webinars and the future IndexCom Conference are complementary expressions of the same commitment: researching, publishing, teaching and sharing knowledge about communication.
This ecosystem enables initiatives to develop their own identities while sharing resources, experience and a common scientific purpose.
HOW WE WORK
Research and knowledge transfer
We promote applied research projects, academic meetings and activities that bring their findings to institutions, professionals and the public.
Scholarly publishing and open access
Publishing is central to our work. IndexCom supports the creation, management and continuity of publications with demanding standards of quality, peer review and editorial ethics.
Training and literacy
We organise workshops, seminars, webinars and labs for students, researchers, professionals and the public, with particular attention to science communication and digital, media and algorithmic literacy.
Networked collaboration
We build cooperative relationships with universities, research centres, learned societies, institutions and industry stakeholders, because research gains value when it is shared.
ORGANISATION AND COMMITMENT
La asociación se articula mediante la Asamblea General, la Junta Directiva y el Consejo Científico. Estos órganos garantizan la gestión ordinaria, la participación interna y la custodia de los principios fundacionales.
Based in Madrid and primarily active in Spain, IndexCom works with independence, transparency, responsibility and a commitment to service. Its aim is to establish an active, pluralistic and sustainable scientific organisation serving communication and society.
